Amazon surely would be more than happy to watch the whole deleted 1984 story just disappear from the public’s memory. The company’s CEO said the whole event was, "stupid, thoughtless, and painfully out of line with our principles." But now, a law firm suing the company on behalf of a college senior may drag the incident out for a while longer.

Seventeen-year-old Michigan high school Justin D. Gawronski lost the book in a bit of an Orwellian turn. His notes weren’t lost in the incident, but seeing as how the book "no longer exists, all my notes refer back to nothing." Gawronski filed the suit to "help set a precedent so that Amazon doesn’t do this again."

Amazon has yet to comment on the suit.
