Find Checked Baggage With Your iPhone

Bag Claim for iPhoneTired of wondering when your checked bag is going to show up in baggage claim? One company thinks it has the answer–and it involves your iPhone.

Bag-Claim, which costs $4.99, is an iPhone app that works with a wireless Bluetooth speaker. The app acts like a sonar system and lets the user know when the bag is within 75 feet–and then updates further with visual and vibrating alerts until the bag is safely in their hands.

The company doesn’t recommend any one speaker in particular, but points out that they range in price from $25 to $110 and often last hundreds of hours in standby mode. The problem? Many of them have pulsing LEDs that indicate Bluetooth is active–which is something I’m sure TSA employees will just love. “Oh, don’t mind that flashing light on my bag, it’s nothing.”

Bag-Claim costs $4.99 (for the app only) and is available now in the App Store.

BMW fully integrates the iPhone

BMW group plans full integration for the BMW 6 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 3 Series, BMW 1 Series and BMW X5. All MINI models will get the integration as well.

The phone is connected to the operating system of the vehicle models. Music is transferred by means of a cable adapter that fits in the USB audio interface in the cars. There’s more to the integration; BMW has developed a joint platform for the phone and iPod function.

For MINI models, the iPhone function will be displayed in the display of the navigation system or in the radio unit, depending on availability. If a navigation system is installed, the joystick operating system can be used to access controls of the iPhone.

Connectivity for MP3 players had already become a ‘must’ with almost all automakers adding iPod connectivity to their lineup. Now, with BMWs integration of iPhone, a wave of iPhone integration may well be on its way.
