Power Socket Switch does away with need to unplug

We’ve been told pretty often to unplug our devices from the main power outlet whenever they are not in use just in case of an electrical surge that might just kill off whatever devices connected to the grid, as well as these gizmos sipping power unnecessarily even when they’re just idle. The Pocket Power Switch aims to change that by removing completely turned off if it isn’t plugged in properly.

Science & Arts Video: Emergy – Rowboat powered sculpture

Emergy is an interactive installation art project bridging sculpture, performance, media arts, architecture, mechanical and electrical engineering. At the nucleus of the installation is a 9ft mechanized rowboat that will generate electricity to power lights in the gallery. The project investigates romantic attachments to traditional concepts of technology, production and land use by using specific motifs. The created environment examines energy and water consumption in an urban desert environment by contrasting human consumption with human expenditure. Raising awareness through embodied experience, the visitor will come to know what it takes to create energy that powers our world.
