Computing Gadget: Print Your Own CDs

Now you can print your CDs, like a professional! I mean, you can print CDs with your own design using the D-I-Y CD label kit or sticker, but the graphic will never be the same as the ones that we buy in record stores. Now, with the DYMO Disc Painter, you can print your own high quality graphics directly into the disc (not on paper or sticker).

dymoDiscPainter.jpg

The DYMO Disc Painter can print up to 1200 dpi, giving great quality to your graphics. You can also adjust the print settings to best (1200 dpi), normal and in case you are in a hurry, you can adjust the print setting to fast, which can print on your disc for only 60 seconds, for the 600 dpi quality. If you want to produce even better results, the ink density can also be adjusted to give superior detail and color to your graphics. The user is also given the option to choose the quality of the disc surface, such as matte, glossy or color.

In just three easy steps, you can create a personalized CD or DVD. First, you have to make your own design, using either Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, QuarkXpress, InDesign or Sure Thing. After you have made your design, you can now insert the disc into the printer. Adjust the printer settings and then you can print on your disc.

Not like other disc printers, the DYMO Disc Painter uses the Radical Print Technology, which means that the disc is printed while it spins, thus producing excellent quality prints.

This would be a good investment. For only $279.95, you can now start your small business with the DYMO Disc Painter.

Computing How-To: Extent Windows 7 Trial Period

windows7.jpgIf you are planning to get your hands dirty with the new Windows 7 Pre-beta build, beware that it will automatically expire after a trial period of 30 days.

Unless you attended the PDC 2008 and got an activation key, there is no method to activate Windows 7 forever yet but what we can do is extend the trial time period from 30 to 90 days which is way enough as we shall soon have Windows 7 Beta in our hands in almost less than 2 months.

This is the same hack used by most users to reset the activation expiry date twice in Windows Vista Pre-Beta and luckily it works for Windows 7 too.

Here is what you need to do.

1. Download Windows 7 Pre-beta and burn the ISO to a DVD.
2. Install Windows 7 Pre-beta using the DVD and while installation make sure to not put any activation key.
3. Once the installation is complete, open Command Prompt.
4. Type any of the following three commands.
sysprep /generalize or slmgr.vbs -rearm or rundll32 slc.dll,SLReArmWindows
5. Hit Enter
6. Reboot Windows 7 and enjoy another 30 days of free trial.

Note: This method only works twice so make sure to use it only when your 30 day trial period is about to expire.
