Stupid Life: “Artist” Kills a Dog in the Name of Art

An “artist” from Costa Rica - Guillermo Habacuc Vargas - as an installation piece took a dog from the street and caused it to suffer and starve to death in the name of Art.

Last year, the Costa Rican ‘artist’ is alleged to have paid some children to chase and catch an abandoned dog. He is said to have tied the animal by a very short rope to the wall of an art gallery in Managua and left it there for several days, without food or water, until it died.

During this time, many people visited the art gallery, paying absolutely no attention to the torment of the dying dog.

The prestigious Central American Biennial exhibition incomprehensibly decided to consider this barbarous act as art, and Habacuc has been invited to repeat his cruel action at the Biennial of 2008 in Honduras.

The Managua exhibition attracted worldwide attention and many people believe it to have been an act of cruelty rather than art. A petition has been started in an attempt to prevent Habacuc’s involvement in the 2008 Biennial and from repeating the spectacle.

SICK! And in the name of what? This isn’t art by any stretch of the warped twisted imagination of any kind of pond life. This is pure unadulterated cruelty for the sake of cruelty. Even those who have caused atrocities over the world (Hitler, Genghis Kahn and the likes) would be ashamed of this, at least they would have inflicted the same on you - sad twisted f**k.

Absolute Filth! how can anyone look at animal abuse like this and call it art. this vermin needs to be locked up! or better yet, shot!
April 14th, 2008 at 3:22 am
@ MrWolf.
I don’t know if the opinion you’re suggesting is the correct one, because it’s the only one I found saying that the dog did not died.
But the point is not ONLY if the dog died or not. The point is, that someone used a dog as an exhibition item, for his glory and profit. And the photos are showing clearly that the dog suffers from this procedure.
The worst point, is that the visitors of the exhibition, was staring at this cruelty without acting. WTF? Nobody was able to understand this is not an art but a raw cruelty? They visit the “art exhibitions”, because of a trend? and they don’t have the power to say “Stop it - This is not art”?
Is this an inspired art? What’s the next step. To have our babies chained “in the name of art”?

Ok people….I agree that what this so called “artist” did is inhumane, unethical, and down right cruel. However, the ranting of a bunch of animal rights activists are NOT going to stop artist from creating pieces like this. Threatening an artist only creates more buzz about the piece an perpetuates more art of a similarly shocking nature. And gives them the attention they so strongly crave. PLEASE if you really want to help animals start with your local animal shelter. And yes, call the artist a DUMB A$$, because shock value does not equal art.

The artist can justify anything but only he knows his real intent. The fact is people IGNORED the dog while it was suffering. He could have been making a point or he could just be a sick fcuk.

What a sick fucking bastard? He should be tied up and left to die, i am soooo pissed about this!!!
April 21st, 2008 at 11:45 am
This is not art this is animal abuse and should never have been allowed to happen . animal abusers have no shame and this person certainly hasn’t and anybody who has viewed his abuse to an innocent animal the man is just scum.

A emaciated dog was tied to a wall for three hours, was fed all the rest of the day then ran away. Contrary to still-circulating sensationalist reports, he did not die in the gallery, he was not denied food. He returned to the streets where no one is taking care of him (unlike the people who fed him in the gallery) and is much happier for the food he received.

I HOPE YOU DIE IN THE SAME WAY YOU BASTARD…
