Best of Screensavers

If you are tired of the default screensavers brought to you by your OS you might start searching for the fresh ones in the Web. And you’ll quickly find out: the choice is enormous; freeware is usually supplied with adware, and there are literally thousands of commercial solutions.

Twingly
Twingly screensaver is visualizing the global blog activity in real time. Forget RSS readers where you see only what you’re interested in. With Twingly screensaver you get a 24/7 stream of all (viewer discretion advised) blog activity, straight to your screen. Windows. Unfortunately testing didn’t work properly.

Worldclock

Defraggler: Defrag the files you want, not the whole disk!

Defraggler differs from other defrag tools on the market, by enabling you to quickly and simply defrag the files you want to, without having to process the whole drive. It gives you the power to select individual files and folders to defrag. So you can get the job done in seconds, rather than waiting for the whole drive to complete. Of course if you want to defrag the whole drive Defraggler will let you do that too.
Defraggler is completely free for both corporate and individual use.

How To Make a WIFI Extender

This is a quick and easy way to get more range with no cost at all. The video shows how a little tinfoil fashioned into a “Windsurfer” parabola can increase your signal strength several decibels.

The parabola diagram and instructions are available at http://www.freeantennas.com/projects/template2/index.html

Just in case the link is no available, here is the diagram (click for bigger version, or right-click and save image).

The instructions are very simple:
1. Download Template
2. Open in a image editor application and resize as desired. Ensure that you keep the square on the diagram square.
3. Print image on business card stock or acetate (document protector).
4. Cut it out and open the six slots with scissors or an X-Acto knife.
5. Glue tin foil to the back side of the reflector surface
6. Assemble by placing the six tabs in the six slots.

If printed at the download size you will see about 9 dBi of gain. If you double the size of the image before you print it you will see about 12 dBi of gain. If you place two reflectors on an AP with two antennas you will see an additional increase in performance.

The Human LCD - Amazing!

South Korea: Boys cheering for their soccer teams. The most amazing thing is that they do this with their clothes (not holding up cards). they have a jacket that is one color on the back, one on the front, and that they can open or close to show a third color shirt on the inside. One school has also figured out how to use their pants to make shading.
