Women spend more than two years applying and removing make-up

BRITISH women spend more than two years of their lives applying and removing £22,000 worth of make-up, a survey claimed yesterday.

The research found the average woman dedicates 603 days to applying mascara, blusher, lipstick and eye-shadow – and a further 170 taking it all off again.

The poll of 2500 women revealed the average girl’s obsession with make-up begins at the age of 14.

From this point, they stand in front of the mirror for almost 36 minutes a day – 21 minutes in the morning and three five-minute sessions to re-apply during the day.

In fact, most British women will put a layer on every time they leave the house, go for lunch or go out after work.

They will then spend at least 10 minutes a day cleansing, toning and moisturising to remove up to four layers of slap accumulated during the day.
