The giant hole is actually a diamond mine in Eastern Siberia near the town Mirna. It is 525 meters deep and 1.25 km in the diameter. View all the photos here.
Some guys said that this is not the bigger hole and report the Utah’s Kennecott copper mine and the US President as bigger ones!
From my point of view the Russian hole it looks more like hole, while the Utah’s looks more like canyon and US President more like an asshole!

I have no true knowledge of this wonder, but I just have to say I’m amazed. I’ve never seen such a beast of a pit, let’s just hope when man goes to screw with it, nothing bad happens…

Yes, the president clearly has a bigger asshole then any man made hole on this planet.

You have one mistake – not Mirna, but Mirny! I was born there) So… I can explain smth…it is like a big mine or pit. “Mir” ( real name of a “hole”) was opened in 1955 and operated almost 50 years and was closed in 2001. It is a biggest open mine in Russian were diamonds was mined.
